  • Obituary: Lorna P. McVay Monesmith Snyder, 90, a 66-year resident of the Leavenworth area, died Wednesday morning, March 19, 1997, in Central Washington Hospital. She was born Lorna P. McVay on Oct. 24, 1906, to David Lewis and Grace (Kennedy) McVay at Helena, Mont. The family later moved to Lewistown, Mont., where she grew up and received her early education. Lorna later traveled to Minot, S.D., where she married Ralph Lee Monesmith in November of 1928. In 1929 they moved to Seattle and in 1942 to Shugart Flats near Plain. In 1955 they moved to Leavenworth. Ralph died in April of 1960. On Sept. 5, 1964, she married Albert M. Snyder at Leavenworth, where she has since resided. She was a member of the Leavenworth First Baptist Church and the Leavenworth Senior Citizen Center. Lorna is survived by her husband, Albert, of the family home; one son, David Monesmith of Plain; four daughters, Marian Parsley and Linda Riggs, both of Leavenworth, Janis Monesmith of East Wenatchee and Joyce Wall of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sisters, Bella Swan of Lewistown, Mont., and Eileen Dusko of Great Falls, Mont.; a stepsister, Jean Floyd of Great Falls, Mont.; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Besides her first husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers. Ward's Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth, is in charge of the arrangements.
