  • Obituary: Wenatchee World - April 18, 2010 David Lee Monesmith, 78, a resident of Plain, WA, died Thursday, April 15, 2010, at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee. Dave was born on September 4, 1931, to Ralph L. and Lorna P. (McVay) Monesmith at Wenatchee. He received his education in Seattle and Leavenworth. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Army on August 1, 1950, and served in the Korean War. Dave received his honorable discharge on August 1, 1953. On August 9, 1953, he married Cleeta Joy Chard at Leavenworth and the couple lived mostly in Seattle and Lynnwood. For a period of time between 1957 and 1959, they moved back to Leavenworth, where he worked for the Chelan County Highway Department. While in Seattle and Lynnwood, Dave worked for over 30 years at Adams News, as a truck driver. He retired on September 4, 1986, and moved to Plain, where he had resided ever since. Dave was a member of the Leavenworth Golf Club and loved fishing, hunting and gardening, especially his corn on the cob. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. At Dave's request, No Service will be held at this time. Ward's Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth, is in charge of the arrangements
