Bibby, 73, of 90 Highview St., died Thursday, June 6, in HealthAlliance Hospital/Leominster after a brief illness. He was born in Charleston, W.Va., the son of George D. and Randa (Anderson) Bibby and was raised in Charleston. He lived several years in Ayer and 21 years in Fitchburg. Mr. Bibby graduated from Charleston High School and received an associate's degree from West Virginia University. He served in the U.S. Army for 30 years retiring as a staff sergeant first class in 1978. While in the Army he served in Korea, Germany and Alaska and served two tours of duty in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. After retiring from the service, he worked as an employment counselor for Montachusett Employment and Training Commission in Gardner and five years as a financial counselor at Fort Devens in Ayer. He cherished his cats and was a member of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, and was a volunteer at the Pat Brody Shelter for Cats, in Lunenburg. He was an avid fan of the West Viriginia University Mountaineers Football Team. He leaves his wife of 25 years, Christine (Tupper) Bibby; a son, Randall Bibby of Millerstown, Maryland; three grandchildren, Ashley, Emily and Ian Bibby, all of Millerstown; several nephews and nieces.
