Born in Welsford, Kings Co., she was a daughter of the late Charles and Georgie (Fuller) Calkin. She was a member of the women's ministry of the Pentecostal Church, Kingsway Assembly; member of the Progressive Conservative Ladies Club; Minas 50 Plus and New Horizons Seniors groups. She was a descendant of the Planters. Surviving are daughter, Miriam (Mickie) Ward, Coldbrook; sons, Gerald, New Minas; Keith, Billtown; Avard, Canning; sisters, Mrs. Lillian Flemons, Kentville; halfbrother, Harold, Berwick; 21 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Miles S.; granddaughters, Valerie, Jennifer; grandson, Stephen; great-granddaughter, Tammy; sister, Erminie; half-sister, Lorna; brothers, Edmund, Arthur. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in W.C. Hiltz Funeral Parlour, Kentville. Funeral 3:15 p.m. Tuesday in the Pentecostal Church, Kingsway Assembly, Belcher Street, Kentville, Pastor Finley Burt and Pastor Winston Osmond officiating. Burial in Berwick Cemetery. Donations to the Pentecostal Church, Kingsway Assembly.
