  • Obituary: Keith Calkin Palmer - 84, of Billtown, Kings County, entered into the gates of God's kingdom on Saturday, October 10, 2015 while a resident of Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown. Born in Somerset, Kings County, he was a son of the late Miles and Frances (Calkin) Palmer. In his earlier years, while working in Ontario, Keith was very proud to have participated in the Avro Arrow project. Later, Keith worked for many years in the auto body repair industry, starting with Austins and then with Volvos and Toyotas. He was a proud member of the Billtown Baptist Church and was known as a hardworking, kind and patient man. He is survived by his wife, Velma (Sheffield); four daughters, Kathryn (Ross) Palmer, New Minas; Sandra Wheaton, Quispamsis, New Brunswick; Sharon Palmer, Centreville; Michelle (Hal) Thurber, Halifax; two sons, Bryan (Nancy Woodworth) Palmer, Rockland; Kevin Palmer, Hamilton, Ontario; a sister, Miriam Ward, Kentville; 14 grandchildren, Kimberly, Terri, Andrew, Melody, Heidi, Marcy, Emily, Cory, Beth, Kelly, Megan, Halee, Mason and Kyle; numerous great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Elizabeth (Schultz); two infant children, Stephen and Valerie; two brothers, Avard and Gerald; a son-in-law, Herman "Skip" Wheaton. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday, October 12, 2015 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2015 in the Billtown Baptist Church, Kings County, Reverend Murray Shaw officiating. Burial will take place in the Lakeview Cemetery, Lakeville, Kings County. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to the Billtown Baptist Church, Mountain Lea Lodge, or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. We would like to thank the staff of Mountain Lea Lodge for their excellent care of our Dad. Their kindness and compassion shown to us in the last weeks helped sustain us. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
