Born in Somerset, he was a son of the late Miles and Frances (Calkin) Palmer. Avard was self-employed with his own body and fender repair. He is survived by his wife, the former Christina "Kip" (Rhynold); four daughters, Debbie (Gary) Molloy, Centreville; Nancy Palmer, Kentville; Lynda (John) Eddy, Kentville; Donna Benjamin, New Minas; one son, Michael, Canning; a sister, Miriam Palmer-Ward, Coldbrook; a brother, Keith (Velma), Bridgetown; 14 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Jennifer; a son, Gary; a son-in-law, Bruce Keddy; a brother, Gerald; a grandson, Christopher. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2014 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2014 in Kingsway Assembly, Kentville, Pastor Terry Penney officiating. Burial will take place in the Hillaton Cemetery.
