Of this union there were six children, all of whom settled in this vicinity: Orland and Frank, Mrs. Aubrey Dodge, Mrs. Robert Palmer, Mrs. George Hutchinson and Mrs. George Fancy. The first break in the family circle came with the death of Mrs. Rainforth in September, 1936. Mr. Rainforth was a man of vigorous health and keen intellect, retaining his mental faculties to his last hours. He was a successful farmer and orchardist. He cleared the woods and built his house, the first house on the Hall Road, when a young man and gradually built up a large and valuable farm. When about eighty years of age, he retired from active work, his son Frank taking over the homestead farm. He was a man who was greatly respected in the community, a good neighbor and kind friend. Funeral services were held from his late residence on Sunday afternoon with his pastor, Dr. D. J. MacPherson, of Berwick United Baptist Church, officiating.
