Mrs Palmer was born at Windermere, January 13, 1872, daughter of Miles and Margaret (McKenzie) Rainforth, and lived there till her marriage, after which she and her husband lived a few years in Massachusetts, and they then returned to their native county and bought a home in Somerset, where the greater part of their married life was spent. Early in life she became a member of Berwick Baptist Church, and was active in church and community life and did a great amount of work for Red Cross. She was a lover of flowers, and it was noted by many people that her care of them made her home and surroundings beautiful. Her husband died in 1936, and a daughter, Olive, in 1930, as she was ready to graduate from Chelsea Memorial Hospital, Chelsea, Mass. Surviving are a son, Miles, Kentville; three daughters - Mrs F Gordon Sanford (Cora), Weston; Mrs Floyd M Smith (Ruby), Clarence; Mrs Frank W Saunders (Delia), Weston; twelve grandchildren (one of whom, Frederick Sanford, had lived with Mrs Palmer since he was three months old), and three great grandchildren. Two sisters - Mrs George Hutchinson and Mrs George Fancy, Morristown - and a brother, Frank Rainforth, Windermere, also survive. Funeral services, conducted by her pastor, Rev W E Cholerton, were held at the home of her grandson, Frederick Sanford, Weston, Saturday afternoon.
