Mr Palmer was the youngest son of the late Thomas R and Margaret Ann Palmer of Rockland and was in his 63rd year. In September, 1897, he married Ermina Rainforth, daughter of Mr and Mrs Miles Rainforth. After his marriage he resided in Somerset and later in Weston, where he carried on mixed farming. For several years he held the position of fruit inspector for a number of companies and private growers. He is survived by his wife; one son, Miles of Somerset; three daughters, Mrs Gordon Sanford and Mrs Frank Saunders, Weston and Mrs Floyd Smith, Clarence, Annapolis County; one brother, Thomas Palmer of Rockland and one sister, Mrs D L Thomas of Braintree, Mass. One daughter, Olive Margaret, predeceased him six years ago.The funeral was held from his late residence, Wednesday, July 15th at 2:30 pm and was very largely attended. In the absence of the pastor, Rev D J MacPherson, pastor of the Berwick Baptist Church, Rev B G Linton of Waterville conducted the services, assisted by Rev D Price. The hymn, "Saved by Grace" which Mr Palmer had sung during his hours of intense suffering in the evening preceeding his death, was rendered by Mrs V H Skinner and Mrs Clifford Crocker, accompanied by Mrs Hugh Illsley. "Rock of Ages" was also sung, also a solo, "Some Time We'll Understand" was beautifully rendered by Rev B G Linton. The pallbearers were Will Ross, Guy Zwicker, Frank Palmer, C F Matthews, Robert Rafuse, Church Morse, all Legion men. The casket was draped with the flag. Interment was in Berwick cemetery where a short service was rendered by the World War Veterans. The floral offerings were many and beautiful.
