  • Obituary: Jean Allyn Watts died Saturday at her Brazil home. She was 77 and had formerly resided in Plainfield. Born May 27, 1932, in St. Paul, Minn., she was a daughter of Luverne D. and Zella V. (Gravelle) Houston. She graduated from Plainfield High School and attended Depauw University, where she was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Watts was a member of Beech Grove United Methodist Church in rural Putnam County, Plainfield Order of Eastern Star No. 414, and the Red Hat Society (Girls of Rocky Fork Lake Chapter). Survivors include her husband, Edward W. Watts Jr.; a son, Gregory A. Watts; daughters Jeanine R. DeLashmit and Brenda Welker; her mother, Zella V. Houston; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and several cousins. Preceding her in death were her father; brothers Sheldon and Rodney Houston; and a son, Rodney Watts. Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, 106 Shaw St., Plainfield. Interment will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Plainfield.
