  • Obituary: MacDONALD, Judith Catherine "Judy" '96 66, West Gore, passed away peacefully at home, Friday May 16, 2014, surrounded by family, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Elisha and Evelyn (Dalrymple) MacPhee. Judy was a community minded person who was active in her church and her life. She worked in various positions at the Halifax International Airport, where she made many friends that she has to this day. In 1997 Judy began her chosen career as a family service counselor at Ettinger Funeral Home, a role that she valued both personally and professionally. Her passions included painting and country music and spending time with friends and family- but her true love was her family. She was a proud, loving grandmother and mother, a loyal sister and a devoted wife. Judy had a wide circle of friends, her absence will be felt by many. She will be sadly missed by her husband, Rev. Angus R. "Gus" MacDonald, West Gore; sister, Diane (Bob)Stoddart; son, Mark (Lori) Miller, Grand Lake; daughter, Sheri(Noel) Williams (nee Miller), Enfield; stepson Ted (Amy) MacDonald, Glace Bay/Halifax; step daughter Allison(Joe) Lake, Moncton; grandchildren, Justin, Abigayle, Hunter and Emma; step granddaughter, Morgan; special nephew, Derek Stoddart (Stacey); special niece Andrea Stoddart. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be 6-9pm Tuesday in the Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie, from where a Celebration of Judy's Life will be held 2pm Wednesday, Rev. Martin Reid officiating, assisted by M. Dale Crawford DLM. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the East Hants VON and The Palliative Care Team for their support. Family flowers only, memorial donations may be made to the Brookside Cemetery or a charity of choice.
