Deceased was the elder son of the late Jacob M and Isabel Farish Owen (a daughter of the late Dr Farish of Yarmouth) and was born in this town 49 years ago. He enlisted in the Royal Flying Corps shortly after the outbreak of the Great War and after severe service was taken prisoner when his plane was obliged to make a landing within enemy lines but was liberated at the end of the War and came home to take over his father's law practice and appointments as Registrar of Probate, US Consular Agent, etc. As a result of injuries received overseas, he lost the sight of one eye and was given the rank of Major on the retired list. Becoming speedily eminent in local affairs, he was repeatedly elected to the Town Council and was Mayor 4 years in succession, 1932 to 1935, inclusive. He leaves his brother, Farish, now in Rhode Island; his widow and 3 daughters: Miss Catherine, a nurse in New York; Miss Constance, a nurse in training at the Yarmouth Hospital, and Miss Mary at home. The funeral will be tomorrow at St Luke's Church, with burial in St Alban's Cemetery, Reverend EB Gabriel officiating.
