  • Obituary: Gary Avard Palmer - 57, of Canning, Kings County, passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2012 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Weston, Ontario, he was a son of Avard and Christina "Kip" (Rhynold) Palmer, Canning. He had been employed in auto body repair and was an avid fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs. He enjoyed collecting coins, and watching documentaries on war history and planes. He also enjoyed older model cars, especially Trans Am's. His heart and door were always open to any local youth in need. In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sons, Cory (Lacey) and Nicholas, both of Canning; four sisters, Debbie (Gary) Molloy, Centreville; Nancy Palmer (the late Bruce Keddy), South Alton; Lynda (John) Eddy, Kentville; Donna Benjamin, New Minas; a brother, Michael Palmer, Canning; two grandchildren Mia and Cruz; nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members. He was predeceased by a son, Christopher; a sister, Jennifer Palmer; paternal grandparents, Miles and Frances Palmer; maternal grandparents, Ruth and Lawson Rhynold. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 25, 2012 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 26, 2012 in Kingsway Assembly, Kentville, Reverend Terry Penney and Reverend Sterling Gosman officiating. Burial will take place in the Hillaton Cemetery, Hillaton, Kings County. A reception will follow in the Kingsway Assembly Church Hall. Donations in memory may be made to the Lung Association. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
