  • Obituary: Catherine Virginia Ann "Kay" Weatherbee '96 97, Bible Hill, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, July 8, 2018, at Shannex Vimy Court, Bible Hill. Born in Amherst, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Annie (Flemming) St. Peter. Catherine and her late husband, Herman (65 years married) were a familiar site at Truro Mall and at the local bingo halls on a regular basis. Kay maintained this daily routine even after Herman passed away until she was prevented from doing so by the onset of poor health. In her earlier years, she was an astute Bridge player and hosted many games at her home which gave her a chance to showcase her wonderful baking skills. Catherine was an avid bowler and won many trophies at tournaments in Truro and Maine. She was president of CWL in the early 60s and a member of Legion Ladies Auxiliary for over 40 years. She and Herman were part of the original group of vets living in one of the VLA homes on Granville Drive in Upper Onslow. Travel was her passion and she traveled all over the world, her favourite country being China. She is survived by her daughters, Marilyn (Gary) Moore, Smithers, British Columbia; Annette (Winston) Weir, Truro; son, Herman "Sonny" (Ruby) Weatherbee, Miramichi, New Brunswick; grandchildren, Phillip, Kevin, Trevor and Michael Moore, Katherine Washburn, Kimberly Corcoran; great grandchildren, Dale, Mitchell, Nicholas, Travis and PJ Moore, Nathan and Shelby Corcoran, Sarah Washburn; great-great grandchildren, Hunter Washburn, Mason and MacKenna Moore, Tucker Moore; step grandchildren, Katherine and Jim Weir and Jo-Ann Weir-Morgante; step great grandchildren, Nicole Birnie, Devyn and Ryan Weir, Luca and Aidan Morgante; half-brothers, Joseph, Frederic and Edward St. Peter, Amherst; half-sister, Lorraine Hope, Amherst. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Herman Lorne Weatherbee; brothers, Raymond and Robert St. Peter. Private family interment will be held in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, 125 Robie Street, Truro. If so desired, donations in Catherine's memory to Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia are welcomed.
