Carr Spinney, 92, died at Hillcrest Commons Nursing Center in Pittsfield on July 9, 2010 after a long illness. She was a longtime resident of Natick. Born in Cambridge on March 9, 1918, daughter of Mary Eva Doyle and William P. Carr, she was a graduate of Cambridge High and Latin School. She was the wife for sixty-two years of William F. Spinney, who died in 2003. She was employed for many years as a sales clerk for Jordan Marsh, Filenes and several other retail stores in the Natick, Framingham area. Mrs Spinney was a member of St. Linus Church for over 50 years. where she taught CCD classes to the children of the parish for many of those years. Dorothy was well known for her cooking skills, especially desserts. She leaves two sons, Robert and his wife, Catherine, of Hinsdale, Ronald and his wife, Jane, of Barnstable; one daughter, Anne Marie (Nancy) Wenger and her husband, Harold, of Port Charlotte, Florida; grandsons, William P. Spinney of Peru, Christopher Hannigan of Norwood, Stephen Hannigan, of Barnstable, Daniel K. Spinney of Douglas, and Jason Spinney of Fort Myers, Florida; one granddaughter, Jill Lincoln of Barnstable; two great-grandchildren, Jake and Heidi Jernberg of Barnstable; one sister, Barbara Carr of Cambridge; and many nieces and nephews. She was the also the sister of the late Mary Baldwin, Ruth Riley and Helen Flemino, and John Carr. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. in St. Linus Church. Natick, MA. Visiting hours in the JOHN EVERETT AND SONS FUNERAL HOME, 4 Park Street at Natick Common, will be held on Tuesday morning beginning at 9:30 a.m. prior to the Mass. Interment will be in St. Tarcisius Cemetery, Framingham, MA.
