Phyllis was born in Brookfield to the late Roy and Jessie (Carter) Wright. She was educated in local Brookfield Schools. Following graduation, she worked at Hickman's General Store. She then moved to Toronto, where she worked for Lever Brothers for several years. After her marriage to David Ward, she moved to Geraldton, Ontario where they resided for 30 years before retiring to Truro. She was a member of the First United Church. Phyllis is survived by her loving sister-in-law, Irene Wright; nephew, Bruce Wright; nieces, Shelly Johnson (Alan Moser), Diane Wright McInnis; great nephews, Alex (Jessica Martin) and Ian Johnson, Blake and Andrew McInnis; aunts, Sylvia, Pauline and Rose Carter, numerous cousins. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews including Gloria and Gary Robichaud whose care and kindness were greatly appreciated. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by husband, David; brother, LeRoy Wright and several aunts and uncles. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 19 from 10 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 11:00 am, both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro with Rev. Valerie Kingsbury officiating. Reception to follow the service. Interment in Brookfield Westside Cemetery.
