  • Obituary: CARTER, Corena Mae- 86, Eastern Passage, wife of the late Edwin Carter, slipped peacefully into the presence of her Lord on Monday, May 28, 2007, in QE2 Health Sciences Centre, Halifax, with her family at her side. Born May 15, 1921 in Belmont, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Clara (Roode) Staples. Her business career included several years selling real estate and was noteworthy for her integrity and genuine love for people. Her love for God was lived out in active service in Baptist churches in Debert, Bedford and Valley. She was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church. Her love for family was expressed in devotion to her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her love for people was expressed in hospitality and encouragement to all who entered her home. She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Edwin and her beloved son, Stephen as well as several brothers and sisters. Surviving are her dear brother, Carmen Staples, Truro; her friend and daughter, Grace Tan (Ban Joo), Eastern Passage; sons, John, Debert; Phil (Gail), Bedford; Brent (June), Fort McMurray; and Ben (Charlotte), Windsor Junction; nineteen grandchildren and twenty-six great-grandchildren Corena was a gift from God to her family and friends. She had a loving spirit … an infectious smile … a generous heart … a deep love for God … a longing for heaven. Welcome home, mom! "Well done thou good and faithful servant '96 Enter into the joy of your Lord." Both visitation on Wednesday, May 30, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.. and the funeral on Thursday, May 31, at 2 p.m. will be at the Debert Baptist Church, with Rev. Brent Carter officiating. Interment in Plains Road Cemetery, Debert. A reception will then follow in the church hall. In Corena's memory donations may be made to the Canadian Baptist Ministries or to a charity of your choice.
