Notes

  • Obituary: MacMichael, (Carter), Marion Evelyn, '96 81, of Debert, NS passed peacefully to her Lord Dec. 25, 2011. She was the daughter of the late Eldren and Ethelwyn (Lynds) Carter, Debert. She is survived by her husband Frank; sons Terry (Beth), Debert, NS and Rick (Susan), Quispamsis, NB; grandsons Greigh (Alyson), Stuart, Colin, Scott (Heather), Corey (Heather) and James; granddaughter Meggie; four great grandchildren; sister, Olga (George Oliver) Baker; many nieces and nephews. Marion was predeceased by brothers Edwin (Corena) and Richard (Eileen) and Donald Rupert who died in infancy; sister Vivian (Art Blackwood)(Carmen Staples). A loving wife and mother, Marion accepted Jesus Christ into her life at a young age. She devoted many hours to service in the church as a member of the Debert Baptist Church, playing and singing with the choir and friends. She spent several years in office work before she left the work force to raise her two sons and provide support for the family business, running to Truro for parts and keeping visiting family fed and entertained. Mom & Dad were married on Boxing Day 61 years ago. Those years included many trips to Ontario, many summer weekends at the cottage, several winters in Florida and numerous motor home trips. They developed a wide circle of friends who, with her family, will miss her deeply. Thank you to doctors and nurses at the Colchester Regional Hospital for the care and concern for her and for her family and making her stay there comfortable. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, December 28 with funeral service at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 29, both in the Debert Baptist Church, 1273 Plains Road, Debert, Pastor Bill Martin officiating with burial in the Middle Road Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Colchester Community Funeral Home, Truro. On-line condolences and donations may be made at: www.colchestercommunity.com
