Ted passed away on May 7, 2017 at the Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow, after a lengthy illness. Ted was born June 3, 1955 to the late Art and Thea (Shields) Manning in Truro, Nova Scotia. He attended Cobequid Educational Center in Truro, NS, and in his early teens, he began a broadcasting career on CKCL, Truro, as a part-time announcer. He began working with CFBC in Saint John, N.B. and later with CFTR in Toronto. He then studied TV Broadcast Engineering at Loyalist College and upon completion worked at Fundy Cable in Moncton. He eventually returned to Truro, NS and started an audio equipment rental business. He became involved doing the sound for different bands, one being with John Gracie, which took him on travels across Canada as well as to Iceland. He started volunteering for Eastlink for several years prior to being hired in 2000 to do interviews and audio/video editing. When Eastlink downsized their staff, he retired due to health issues.
