He retired from the Department of Lands and Forests, as chief caretaker at Laurie Park, Halifax County, after 15 years of service. He was a former employee of Municipal Contracting, Bedford. A resident of Cooks Brook for nine years, he had previously lived in Wellington. He was a well known fiddle player across the province and a member of 75-80 Club, Musquodoboit Harbour. He served overseas during the Second World War and was a member of Royal Canadian Legion, Enfield Branch 133. He is survived by his wife, the former Elva Dillman; two daughters, Sylvia (Mrs. Doug Cutler), Wentworth; Ella (Mrs. Ralph Singer), Shubenacadie; two sons, Lionel, Dartmouth; Lewis, Mount Uniacke; sister, Elsie (Mrs. Oral Fraser), Wellington; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandsons. He was predeceased by two sisters, Martha, Verda; seven brothers, Callard, Howard, Fred, Daniel, Ralph, Burchell, Austin.
