  • Obituary: BRIMICOMBE, Elva Catherine - 81, Shubenacadie, passed away May 14, 2008, in the VG Site, QEII, Halifax. Born in Lantz, she was a daughter of the late Kenneth and Edith (Fraser) Dillman. She was a resident of Shubenacadie for the past 15 years, prior to that at Cooks Brook and Wellington. Elva attended church in Lantz and then Shubenacadie. She was very much involved with the marathon 45's and enjoyed card games. She was a legion member at Enfield Branch 133 and was an active camper. She was an employee at the kitchen of Cara Operations at the Halifax Airport and for a time at Bedford Canadian Tire. Elva was a very active knitter and reader. Surviving are daughters, Sylvia Cutler (Doug), Lethbridge, Alta.; Ella Kirkey (Richard), Eastern Passage; sons, Lionel Brimicombe (Cathy), Dartmouth; Lewis Brimicombe (Patricia), Ardoise; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Ray (Marion), Milford; sister, Rhonda Smith (Philip), Sackville. She was predeceased by her husband, Herbert; sister, Violet, and granddaughter, Deanna. Cremation has taken place. Visitation 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Saturday in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Main St., Shubenacadie, Rev. Lloyd Ripley officiating. Interment in Oak Hill Cemetery, Milford. Donations in memory of Elva may be made to the Dialysis Unit of the VG Site, QEII, or St. James Anglican Church, Shubenacadie. Thanks to the doctors and nurses on 6B of the VG Site, QEII.
