  • Obituary: 1955 Bridgewater Bulletin Relatives and friends were saddened by the passing of Mrs. Lalia Nichols at her home in Barss Corner, October 12th, after a lengthy illness. Born in Billtown, Kings County, 82 years ago, she was before marriage Miss Lalia Mae Wood, daughter of the late Harding Wood and Melissa Dunham Wood. She had spent her married life in Barss Corner where her husband passed away nine years ago. She was a faithful worker of the United Church of Canada and of various organizations of that body, as well as a supporter of any project for the betterment of the community. Surviving is a daughter, Marion (Mrs. Warren Ramey), and two granddaughters, Madelaine and Velma Ramey. A short service was held at the home at 2 o'clock on Friday afternoon, followed by service in the Barss Corner United Church, conducted by Mr. James Fraser, student pastor of the church, assisted by Rev.Frank Locke, pastor of the Barss Corner Baptist Church, and Rev. Arnold Mitton, of Imperoyal, former pastor of the United Church. The pall bearers were Howard Silver, Edwin Fancy, Kenneth Seamone, and George DeLong. Interment was in Indian Brook Cemetery.
