DeLong, 76, Barss Corner, Lunenburg County, died March 30, 1993, at home. Born in Barss Corner, he was a son of the late Fred and Ethel (Hirtle) DeLong. He was an avid sportsman and a life member of Nova Scotia Guides Association; member of Epworth United Church, New Germany. He served in the Forestry Corps during the Second World War and later as a flying officer. He was a POW in Germany when the war ended. He was owner of George R. DeLong Hardware and Feed for 16 years. He is survived by his wife, the former Hazel Moore; daughter, Jane Marshall, Watford; two sons, George, Jr., Beech Meadows, Queens County; Burpee, Lower Sackville; sister, Judith (Mrs. John Mader), Barss Corner; brother, Fred, Barss Corner; seven grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Carmen. The body is in New Germany Funeral Home, visiting 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday in Epworth United Church, New Germany, Rev. Grant Walls officiating, assisted by Rev. Karl and Miriam Uhrstrom. Burial will be in Barss Corner Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any charity. Occupation: Merchant
