  • Obituary: Elizabeth "Betty" Paradise, 80, of Terryville, former Bristol resident and wife of Edward Paradise, died on Friday (December 26, 2008) at the Bristol Hospital. Betty was born in Bristol on September 14, 1928 and was a daughter of Eva Vera (Wallace) Bough of Farmington and the late Richard Bough. She resided in Bristol most of her life where she attended Bristol Schools and moved to Terryville eight years ago. She was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church, Forestville, a member and Past Matron of Olivet Chapter #29 Order of Eastern Star, and was a Past Grand Electa for the State of Connecticut Order of Eastern Star. In addition to her loving husband and mother, Betty is survived by four sons and two daughters-in-law, William and Debora Paradise of Amherst, NH, Michael and Donna Paradise of North Carolina, Richard Paradise of Sturbridge, MA, and Bruce Paradise of Avon; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Brian Mortiboys of Glastonbury; 17 grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her father, she was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Duval. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Avenue, Bristol. Burial will follow in Peacedale Cemetery, Bristol. Relatives and friends may call at the Funeral Home on Tuesday from 12 noon - 2 p.m. An Order of Eastern Star service will be held on Tuesday at 1 p.m. The Hartford Courant Hartford,CT December 28,2008
