Obituary: MacEachern, E. Joyce - West Tatamagouche, passed away January 1, 2019, at the Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital, Tatamagouche. Born in Great Village she was a daughter of the late George and Edna (Campbell) Cochrane. Joyce had worked as a C.N.A. in the old Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital and at the Toronto Western Hospital. Upon moving back to West Tatamagouche she stayed at home raising her family. Joyce later returned to nursing and became the first grandmother to graduate from the registered nursing program at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, in 1983, and worked at the new Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1996. Surviving are her sons, Myles (Janice), Ecuador; Paul (Rita), Langley, B.C.; daughter, Kelley (Don) Jamieson, Pugwash; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; brother, Brent Cochrane, Alberton, P.E.I.; sister, Fronz "Polli" Ives, North Orillia, Ont.; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, C. Harold MacEachern; daughter, Patricia Mammela; brothers, Lynwood "Sam " and Elroy Cochrane; sisters, Ida Parker and Sandra Griffin. A funeral service for Joyce will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2019 in Bayhead Union Church, Bayhead. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery with a reception to follow in the Bayhead Community Hall. Donations in memory may be made to any local animal shelter.
