  • Obituary: Walter Archibald Davidson - 91, of New Minas, Kings County passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late John and Emma (Hingley) Davidson. He was a veteran of the Second World War and served with the Canadian Navy in the North Atlantic. He was employed with Simpson's and later Sears where he managed both the Middleton and Kentville locations, from where he retired following 40 years of service. Walter was an avid curler, golfer and overall a sports enthusiast and enjoyed watching hockey, baseball, golf and curling. He was a member of the Glooscap Curling Club, Kentville and was one of the longest standing members of Ken-Wo Golf and Country Club, New Minas. He especially enjoyed traveling and camper trips with family. He is survived by a son, Dwight, Halifax; two grandsons, Colin (Erinn), Wolfville and Matthew, Toronto; special friend, Alda Comeau, Kentville and a sister-in-law, Dolly Davidson, New Glasgow. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Louise (Murphy); a son, Bruce; three sisters, Sarah "Trudy" Defaber, Erna Davidson and Clara Burke; three brothers, Alfred, Ellis and Wilfred and a sister, Vera. A combined Royal Canadian Legion and funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 14, 2013 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Doctor Barry Morrison officiating. Burial will take place in the Willowbank Cemetery, Wolfville. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Annapolis Valley Victorian Order of Nurses, the Royal Canadian Legion, Kings Branch No. 6, Kentville or to a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
