Notes

  • Obituary: 87 years of age, went to be with the Lord on May 1, 2012. Carrie was born on November 29, 1924, in Westchester Station, to the late Abe and Mary (Langille) Mattatall. Her family moved to Dart-mouth in the early 1940s, where she continued her edu-cation at Miss Murphy's Busi-ness College. Fol-lowing her train-ing she worked in Dartmouth as a bookkeeper for much of her life. Carrie met Paul Hatt when he re-turned home from serving in the Ar-my in the Second World War and they married on October 5, 1948. Shortly after their marriage, Carrie was diag-nosed with TB and spent a year in the TB Hospital in Halifax where she re-covered. They bought their first home on Newcastle Street in Dartmouth where they lived for the next 50 years. Carrie and Paul had no children of their own but they both had a deep de-sire to share their love and faith in the Lord. They began holding Sunday school for children in Tuft's Cove in 1953. After many years, this small en-deavour grew into Northbrook Bible Chapel where Carrie continued to teach preschoolers for many more years. Carrie was a wonderful hostess and countless people were blessed by her kindness. Her family and friends were recipients of the love and care she had for them. She showed her love to others with special phone calls, cards and cakes on birthdays, anni-versaries and bridal and baby show-ers. In 2006, Paul and Carrie moved in-to an apartment and then, due to fail-ing health, Paul moved to the Veter-ans' Care Facility in Halifax. In 2010, Carrie moved into The Berkeley in Dartmouth where she lived until her passing. Carrie is survived by her be-loved husband of 63 years, Paul; broth-ers, Harold (Lorraine), Eugene (Bar-bara); sister, Marilyn; sister-in-law, Reby and brother-in-law, Mark (Mary) Hatt, along with many nieces and ne-phews. Carrie was predeceased by brother, Leonard. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Lee, Joan Boniface and the care-givers at The Berkeley for all their wonderful care. We also thank her many friends who have shown their love and support for Carrie over the years. She will be greatly missed and has left behind many wonderful me-mories. Her dedication and faith in her Saviour leaves a lasting legacy on all our hearts.
