  • Obituary: Mattatall, Eva Mildred, age 93, of Truro, NS, passed away peacefully with her sons by her side at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, on Tuesday, March 5, 2019. Eva was born at Ward's Brook, Cumberland County, NS, September 18, 1925. She was the daughter of the late Capt. Eldon Dunn and Evidene Smith (Tibbitts) Brown. She was predeceased by her husband, Logan H. Mattatall, and the father of her children, Joseph A. Babineau; brothers, Blair, Vaughn; sister, Jessie; daughter-in-law, Rosealee Babineau. She is survived by her sons, Mike (Mary), Jack (Carol), Steve (Jean) Babineau, all of Truro; step-daughters, Heather (Craig) Bowyer, Brenda Topshee; step-son, Spencer Mattatall; grandchildren, Jeff Babineau, Tracey Babineau, Annette Hanson, Casey Babineau; step-grandchildren, Bradley Bowyer, Nicole Olynyk, Michelle Young, Jamie Topshee, Heather Topshee-Harvie, Logan Mattatall. Many great and great-great grandchildren. As a young girl she grew up in Port Greville NS, where she went to school.During the war she worked for the War Effort in Amherst NS, building air planes. After the war mom raised her family and she graduated from the Success Business College in Truro, and then worked at the Colchester Credit Bureau until she and Logan were married. They spent many happy years at the cottage in Brule and they also travelled extensively. She was a member of the Attic Painters, the Truro Curling Club, and Kinettes. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, from where visitation will be held Thursday, March 7, from 6-8 pm, and where funeral service will be held Friday, March 8, at 2 pm, Rev. Valerie Kingsbury officiating, with reception to follow. Spring interment in the Crossroads Cemetery, Valley. In lieu of flowers, donations in Eva's memory may be made to the Breast Cancer Foundation or to the Hospice Society Truro would be appreciated. A special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Palliative Care Unit.
