  • Obituary: REID, Alice Margaret - Passed away peacefully on February 1st, 2001, at the Shiretown Nursing Home, Pictou in her 87th year. Born in River John, she was a daughter of the late Sherman and Amanda (Dwyer) Sillers. Although she had lived at the Shiretown Nursing Home since 1990, she and her husband Merril lived most of their lives on the Gunn Road, River John. She was a member of St. George's Presbyterian Church and was a devout church worker. She served as superintentant of the Sunday School for several years and was a CGIT leader, Leader of the Young People's Society and of the Vacation Bible School. She also was a member of Welsford Ladies' Aid. Besides her husband, Merril, who resides at the Mira Nursing Home, Truro, she is survived by daughters, Ruth (Wayne) Drew, Porter's Lake; Joan (Russell) Graham, Scotsburn, Pictou Co.; son, Robert (Isabel), Abercrombie; brother, Canon Ernest Sillers, California; as well as seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. Predeceased by sisters, Violet, Amanda; brothers, Sherman, Ross, Alton and Hibbert. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. today, February 3rd, 2001, at St. George's Presbyterian Church, Rev. Jeanette Fleischer officiating. Spring burial in Hamilton Cemetery, River John. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. George's Presbyterian Church Fund.
