  • Obituary: GARLAND '96 Winfred Thomas Hocking, 88, died May 22, 2015 at his home. He was born September 14, 1926 in Rockland a son of Winfred and Katheryn (Andrews) Hocking. He graduated from Wakefield [MA] High School, Class of 1944, and served in the U. S. Navy during World War II as an electrician aboard a Pacific based destroyer. He graduated from the Lowell Textile Institute in 1952 and retired in 1990 after working as an engineer. He was a member of the Society of Mayflowers Descendants in the State of Maine, The Maine Society of the Sons of the American Revolution and the Sons of The Union Veterans of the Civil War. In addition to his wife Rebecca (Spencer) Hocking, he is survived by 2 sons, Thomas and wife Valerie, all of Garland; Ted and wife Sally of Baldwin; a daughter, Cynthia Labonte and husband Norman of Brookfield, MA; a brother Andrew and wife Patricia of Lynnfield, MA; 5 granddaughters and 4 grandsons. Tom was predeceased by a son Russell Hocking of Raynham, MA, a son Robert Hocking of Mashpee, MA, and a sister, Martha Bourdon and her husband Leo of N. Reading, MA. A graveside service will be held at the Ridge Cemetery, St. George.
