Taylor, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 27, 2015 in Agawam, MA. Born in Westfield, MA on November 27, 1934, daughter of the late Hector and Sadie (Barber) Chagnon, she was raised in West Granby and Simsbury. After graduating from Simsbury High School, Lorraine continued her education at Hillyer College and graduated with an Associates Degree in 1954. She took a position with an orthopedic doctor for two years before moving with her husband to Roswell, NM while he completed his service in the Air Force. She and her husband returned to Connecticut a few years later and settled in East Hartland where she lived for almost 50 years. Lorraine worked as a church secretary at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church and later took a position with the Simsbury Board of Education where she worked until her retirement as the superintendent's assistant in 1996 after 25 years of service. Lorraine was an active member of Old St. Andrew's Church in Bloomfield where she served on several committees and groups including the Episcopal Church Women and the Vestry. She was a member of Day Star Chapter #69, O.E.S. and was also a member of the Red Hat Society. After moving to Windsor in 2002, she started a Red Hat Chapter in Windsor and served as Queen. In her spare time, Lorraine enjoyed reading, bird watching, arts and crafts, figure skating, and traveling with her husband in their RV. She leaves two sons, Timothy Taylor and his wife Jane of Bedford, MA and Stephen Taylor and his wife Carolyn of Southwick, MA; a daughter, Tessa Lynn Casey and her husband Jeffrey of Laconia, NH; a sister, Dorothy Mitchell and her husband Adam of Windsor; six grandchildren, Jeffrey Taylor and his wife Meg of Arlington, VA, Eric Taylor and his wife Nikki of Bedford, MA, Samantha Taylor and her fiancé Colby Dayton of Framingham, MA, Matthew Casey of Duxbury, MA, Kevin Casey of Orlando, FL, and Sean Casey of Clemson, SC; five nephews; and four nieces. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Merwin Chagnon; and three sisters, Muriel Viets, Anna Chagnon, and Ethel Johnston.
