  • Obituary: Allan L. Taylor, 68, of East Hartland, beloved husband of 45 years to Lorraine C. Taylor, died peacefully Sunday, (August 5, 2001) at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Worcester, MA, he was the son of the late Thomas Charles Taylor of England and Jerusha (Phinney) Taylor of Nova Scotia. He attended Hartford Public Schools and, after completing two years at Hillyer College, he served in the United States Air Force for four years. He was a technical writer and quality assurance liaison for Service Publications at Kaman Aerospace before retiring in 1996. A resident of East Hartland for 44 years, he was active in community activities, including the Zoning Board of Appeals, Cub Scout, and Boy Scout programs. He also was past president of the Parent's Association of Keene State College, Keene, NH. A faithful communicant of Old St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Bloomfield, he was honored to serve as Chalicist and usher for several years. Over the years, he enjoyed oil painting, gardening and was especially fond of wildflowers. He and his wife traveled extensively in their RV, visiting Maine, Nova Scotia, and many parts of the U.S. Together they fulfilled a life-long dream by exploring Alaska in the summer of 1998. In addition to his wife, he leaves his family, Timothy and Jane Taylor of Bedford, MA; Stephen and Carolyn Taylor of Southwick, MA; Tessa and Jeffrey Casey of Duxbury, MA; and six grandchildren, Jeffrey, Eric, Samantha, Matthew, Kevin and Sean. In addition, he leaves his aunt, Mrs. Margaret Clark of Paxton, IL; and many other cousins in the U.S. and Nova Scotia. Friends may call at the Hayes Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook Street, Granby, TODAY, 5-8 p.m. A service honoring his life will be held at Old St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 59 Tariffville Road, Bloomfield, Wednesday, 1:30 p.m., with the Rev. Puck Purnell officiating. Burial will be in Old St. Andrew's Cemetery, Bloomfield. In lieu of flowers,contributions in his memory may be sent to the St. Francis Hospital and Cancer Center, 95 Woodland St., Hartford, 06105 or Old St.Andrew's Church, 06002.
