  • Obituary: Hyannis '97 Barbara J. Medeiros, 75, passed away peacefully at Cape Cod Hospital on Feb. 23, 2011, after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of J. Craig Medeiros, Hyannis, and they were nearing their 49th wedding anniversary this April. Born and raised in the town of Barnstable, Mrs. Medeiros graduated from Barnstable High School in 1953 and Fisher College in 1954. She was a secretary at Gaffney Assoc. Architectural firm and later co-owned with her husband J. Craig Medeiros Trucking & Bulldozing and J.C.M. Metal Recycling. She was the past president of the former Hyannis Junior Women's Club. For weekends and vacations, she loved going to their homes in Forestdale to enjoy the pond and Conway, N.H., to watch her children ski and for family Thanksgivings. Her most important role in her life was being a devoted Catholic, wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Medeiros is most remembered for her kind ways, big beautiful smile, and the friendship she shared with so many. She loved family gatherings. She was the daughter of the late William H. Madden and Mary A. (Silva) Madden; sister to Elizabeth E. Madden, Hyannis, and mother to Donna M. Medeiros, Hyannis; Kevin J. Medeiros and his wife Helyne E. Medeiros, and their children Nathan J. and Kyler C., all of Marstons Mills; mother to Marcia Medeiros Cameron and her husband Jeffrey B. Cameron, and their children, Parker M. and Austin J. of West Yarmouth. A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Church in Hyannis, with burial in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Centerville.
