Born December 15, 1931, in Upper Kennetcook, he was a son of the late Harry and Muriel (Ettinger) Burns. George was a mechanic for many years working at Garby's Garage, Russell White's Lumber Mill, Mobil Concrete and retiring from the Department of Highways. He enjoyed putting in a garden and working on small engines in his garage. It was often said "if George couldn't fix, it couldn't be fixed". He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Surviving are his wife, Neta (Hanes); daughters, Lorainne "Mickey" (Malcolm) Royles, South Maitland; Janice Burns, Truro; sons, Wayde (Debbie) and Tim (Kim), both of Upper Kennetcook; grandchildren, Tricia, Lyn-Ann, Shauna, Justin, and Tessa; great-grandson, Braden; sisters, Maxine, Cassie and Margie; brothers, Ronald, John, William, and Hadley. He was predeceased by son, Gordon Eugene in infancy; brothers, Donald, Martell, Darrell and Doug. Cremation has taken place. Visitation 7-9 p.m. today, memorial service will be held Tuesday, November 2, at 2 p.m., both in J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Highway 354, Kennetcook, Rev. William Herrington officiating. Private family committal service in Upper Kennetcook Anglican Cemetery, Upper Kennetcook. Family flowers only, donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or a charity of choice.
