  • Obituary: Halifax Chronicle Herald on Dec 17, 1962: WINDSOR - John Walter Cochrane, of St. Croix, died at Payzant Memorial Hospital, Windsor, at the age of 68. He was born in Falmouth, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Cochrane. He was a member of the United Church, veteran of the First World War, past president of the Windsor Legion. He operated the Empire Chain Stores in Windsor and St. Croix for several years. He is survived by two sisters, Madge (Mrs. Maynard Parker) of Mount Uniacke, and Mrs. May Dill of Falmouth; three brothers, William of Vancouver, Channing of Falmouth, and St. Clair of St. Croix; two daughters, Iris (Mrs. David Andrews), Guelph Ontario and Doris (Mrs. Randall Douglas), Sarnia, Ontario; four sons, Walter, Fred and Lawrence, all of Windsor, and William of St. Croix. Remains are resting at R.D. Lindsay's Funeral Home, Windsor where a family service will be held today at 7:30 p.m., followed by a Legion service. Funeral service will be held Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock, at the St. Croix United Church with Rev. J.C. Parker officiating. Burial in St. Croix cemetery.
