Obituary: Memorial services for Frances Lucille McDaniel South are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, March 16, 2001, at Craddock Memorial Chapel in Ardmore.
Mrs. South was born Feb. 22, 1920, in Norman, Okla., to George and Charline Armstrong McDaniel. She passed this life on March 13, 2001, at her residence in Ardmore.
She graduated from Norman High School in 1938 and attended Oklahoma Christian University and the University of Oklahoma.
She and Joe R. Smith were married Dec. 30, 1939. He preceded her in death on July 6, 1957. She and Wade South were married in Ardmore Sept. 3, 1965.
She was the founder and honorary chairperson of the Norman High School reunion. She was a member of Asbury Methodist Church in Ardmore. She was the past president of the Petroleum Wives Club of Ardmore.
She is survived by her husband, Wade, of the home; a son, Scott Smith, of Corpus Christi, Texas; a son-in-law, George Stubbs, of Ardmore; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jody Stubbs; and a brother, Dudley McDaniel.
Honorary bearers are Dr. Garland Clay, Mike Hisey, Phil Ross, Roy Bowman, Jack McKenney, Harold Chadwick and Jim Gordon.
