  • Obituary: Smith, Kathleen Marie - 89, Pugwash, passed away Thursday January 3, 2008, at the East Cumberland Lodge. Born in Wallace Station, she was a daughter of the late Emmerson and Jane (MacEachern) Coulter. Kaye was a member of St. John's United Church, Wallace and a member of the Order of The Eastern Star, Cedar Chapter #3, Wallace. She was a dedicated and loving mother to her seven children. Kaye loved listening to fiddle music and continued to tap her foot to those tunes until the end. She had a great sense of humor, loved to laugh and enjoyed knitting. Surviving are her daughters, Jean (Doug) Mills, Rockley; Judy (Ken) Brogran, Okotoks, Alberta; sons, Walter (Barbara) Smith, East Wallace; Norman (Gurli) Smith, Malagash; Donald (Helen) Smith, Stoney Creek, Ont; Larry (Cindy) Smith, Truro; Kevin (Christine) Smith, Wallace Station; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild; brothers, Freeman (Eleanor) Coulter, Springhill; Layton (Sonja) Coulter, Dunville, Ont.; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Chesley Smith; brothers, Claude and Roland Coulter, and Charles Coulter in infancy; sisters, Dorothy Davis and Beulah Seaman. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, in Mundle's Funeral Home, 204 Water St., Pugwash (243-2506), from where the funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6., Rev. Meggin King officiating. Burial in the Riverside Cemetery, Wallace River, at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society or any charity of your choice.
