Notes

  • Obituary: Shelley E. "Cookie" Porter, passed away quietly in her sleep on Wednesday, November 4, 2010. Shelley was born on September 17, 1955 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. She was the youngest of five children, having one older brother and three older sisters. Shelley's parents relocated their large family from Halifax to Provo, Utah when Shelley was just 10 years old. Shelley was an extremely gifted artist, and made a career of photographic restorations. She was also an avid dog lover, and had puppies as constant companions throughout her life. Shelley's most significant achievement in her short life was giving birth to and raising two very beautiful children, Ben and Amber. Her children were the focus of everything she did, and her entire life was spent making sure her kids had the essentials of life. Shelley went above and beyond to make sure that her kids knew that she loved them unconditionally. Shelley is predeceased by her mother, Helen Margaret Hatt Johnson. She is survived by her son, Ben Porter (Apache Junction, AZ), her daugher, Amber Porter Thomas (Gilbert, AZ), her father, Douglas Johnson (Provo, UT), her brother, Brenton Johnson (Snowville, UT) three sisters, Marianna Sidwell (Heber City, UT), Anita Mason (Queen Creek, AZ) and Claire Kulawinski (Layton, UT)and five beautiful grandchildren. She was a kind and loving person who touched all of our lives in a very profound way. We will all miss her!
