  • Obituary: LANGILLE: Donald Malcolm, 82, Greenfield, Colchester County, passed away peacefully, Thursday, June 28, 2007 in the Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro, after a valiant battle with pulmonary fibrosis. He was born in Boston, Mass. USA to the late William B. and Mazie (Waugh) Langille, formerly of Tatamagouche, NS. In 1932, the family moved back to Tatamagouche, where his father opened a meat store. Don was involved with it as he grew up. In 1943, he joined the R.C.N.V.R. and served till the 2nd World War ended. Upon returning, he worked with his father. In 1962, he went to work with the Federal Dept. of Agriculture, Health of Animals Branch, retiring in 1987. Don and his wife spent 15 winters in Florida where he enjoyed golf. His hobbies included target practice, hunting, fishing and pool. He was on the Nova Scotia Small Bore Rifle Team for 7 years in the 70's. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 26, Truro, the Keystone Masonic Lodge 102, Tatamagouche and a life member of the Truro Lion's Club. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, the former Doris Dowell; daughter, Diane (Bob), Truro; sister, Barbara Ann (Harry) Sargent, Roseburg, Oregon; niece, Karen (Kenneth) Peterson, nephew, Harry W. Sargent, Roseburg, Oregon; nephew, Kelly (Patty) Sargent, Eugene, Oregon; 3 great-nephews and 2 great-nieces. Visitation will be held 7-9pm Monday, July 2, Legion Tribute Service 7pm Monday, Masonic Lodge Service 7:30pm Monday, Lions Memorial Service 8pm Monday, and memorial service 2pm Tuesday, July 3, all in the Mattatall Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, with Rev. Brian DeLong officiating. Interment to follow in the Lockerby Cemetery, Tatamagouche. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Lung Association of NS or to a charity of your choice.
