  • Obituary: Langille, Doris Elaine, 85, of Greenfield, passed away peacefully at home, on Wednesday, June 15, 2011. Born in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, USA, she was the daughter of the late Dawson and Florence (Thomas) Dowell. Doris grew up in Upper Darby, PA. coming to Nova Scotia at their cottage in Brule until she finally moved to Nova Scotia where she met her husband Donald. Doris and Donald married in 1945 and had been married for 62 years. Doris was a former employee of T. Eaton Order Office in Tatamagouche and later worked with her husband Don at the Dept. of Agriculture Health Animals Branch, Truro Office. She was a member of the WMS at the Sedgwick Memorial Presbyterian Church in Tatamagouche as well as the Greenfield United Church, Greenfield. Doris and her husband spent 15 winters in Florida. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by her daughter, Diane Langille (Robert), Truro; sister-in-law, Barbara Ann (Harry) Sargent, Roseburg, Oregon; niece, Karen Sargent and nephew, Harry W. Sargent, both of Roseburg, Oregon; nephew, Kelly (Patty) Sargent, Eugene Oregon; 3 great-nephews and 2 great-nieces. She was predeceased by her husband Donald "Don" Langille. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street Truro. No visitation by request. Funeral service will be held 2pm Saturday, June 18,at the Greenfield United Church, Greenfield, Rev. Brian DeLong officiating, with a reception to follow in the church hall. Interment to take place at a later date in the Lockerby Cemetery, Tatamagouche. Family flowers only. Donations in Doris' memory may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, the Lung Association of Nova Scotia or to a charity of your choice.
