She went on to attend Westbrook Junior College (WJC) graduating in 1946. After graduating from WJC, Gloria was employed by DuPont Dental Lab in Portland, and by the City of Portland as a teacher's assistant at Woolston and North School for 12 years. Gloria had a passion for real estate and was a partner in Mattatall Realty in Portland; part owner and manager of Johnson's Trailer Park in Big Pine Key, Fla; and owner and manager of Tallwood Cottages in South Casco. Gloria was also a member of the Maine Realtors Association as an inactive broker and appraiser. She enjoyed reading (especially "What's happening in the Real Estate Market Today" and her novels), sewing, golfing and spending her winters in Florida with her husband, Angelo. Most of all, Gloria enjoyed spending time with her family on Big Sebago Lake. She had a great life and lived in the fun years! Gloria was kind, loving, hardworking and very strong. She would want us to remember her in this way. Most of all, Gloria would want us to celebrate her life. She once wrote, "When you think of me, think of me with laughter. If you think of me with tears, don't think of me at all". Gloria was predeceased by her parents, Marion E. (Albee) and Errolid W. Mattatall; brother, Errolid W. Mattatall, Jr.; sister, Joyce E. Trefry; and husband Angelo "Andy" Palazzo and son Anthony Jerome "Jerry" Palazzo. Gloria is survived by daughter Debra Porter (Kendall) of Falmouth; grandson Scott Caron (Yolanda) of Chicago; granddaughter Jennifer Small (Mark) of Falmouth; great-granddaughters Natalia Caron, Madely Small and Marissa Caron; and great-grandson Zachary Small. The family would like to thank all of the staff, residents and friends at Ledgeview Assisted Living, who Gloria grew to love over the past 7 years. Friends and family are invited to attend a time of Visitation today, Friday, July 8, 2016, from 4-7pm in the JONES, RICH & HUTCHINS FUNERAL HOME, 199 Woodford Street, Portland.
