  • Obituary: WELL-KNOWN TRURO HORSEMAN DIES DANIELS, Frank Gray - 78, 1785 Highway 2, Hilden, Colchester Co., died December 11, 1995, in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in , he was a son of the late Elwin John and Carrie (Gray) Daniels. He was 29-year director of the United States Trotting Association district 10 where he was chairman, was the second longest member of the board of the association, and was on its executive and finance committees for 15 years. He was an avid horseman and spent most of his life involved in the horse industry. He was a member of many horseman's associations in the Maritimes. He was the first man in the Maritimes to record a thousand victories. He judged draft horses and oxen and was a harness horse judge both locally and internationally. He was inducted in the Truro Sport Hertitage Society in March of this year. He was honored by Horsemen's Association in Truro in 1994 and Inverness, Sydney and Summerside, P.E.I., in 1995. He was a member of Masonic Fellowship Lodge 112 AF & AM where he received his 50-year jewel in June of this year. He was also a life member of Lions International, Truro and an adherant of the United Church of Canada. Surviving are his wife, the former Edna Power; sons, Scott Elwin, Sackville, N.B.; Gary Frank, Hantsport; grandchildren, Jeffrey, St. John's, Nfld.; Patricia Stewart, Tatamagouche; Kerry, Duvae, UAE; F.Gray, Toronto; Justin, Sackville, N.B.; stepgrandsons, Lee, Leonard; a great-grandson. He was predeceased by a daughter, Velma Jean; brothers, Murray, Harry. Visitation 3:30-5, 7-9 p.m. today, masonic service 7 p.m. tonight followed by Lions service 7:30 p.m. all in Mattatall Funeral Home, Truro. Funeral 2 p.m. Thursday in First United Church, Truro, Rev. Ivan Norton officiating, assisted by Rev. Whitney Dalrymple. Burial 1 p.m. Friday in Fairview Cemetery, Lawrencetown, Rev. Joy Noble officiating.
