Obituary: Norma Jean Wertenberger, 79 years, of Ida, died Sunday, October 5, at Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Health Care, Monroe. Friends may call at the Capaul Funeral Home, Ida, Wednesday, October 8, 2014, from 1 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be at the Funeral Home Thursday, at 11 AM. Pastor Ted Kerr, of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Ida, will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.
Born November 12, 1934, in Ann Arbor, Norma was the daughter of Edward and Nellie (Runyon) Harris. She married John "Jack" Wertenberger, on July 31, 1954, in Ida United Methodist Church. They were married for fifty years. He died August 20, 2004. She drove bus for the Ida Public Schools for twenty-five years, and also worked in the school cafeteria and at the Blue Steak Snack Shop. Norma did scrapbooking for the Ida Volunteer Fire Department, loved visiting Northern Michigan, and enjoyed being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include: sons, Edward (Lindy), James; daughters, Connie (Bruce) Bamm, Jacqueline (Jeff) Lampkowski; daughter-in-law, Brenda Wertenberg; sisters, Janet (Dave) Garen, Carol Bomia, Brenda Wohlfeil; fourteen grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by: her parents, her husband, John, son Lonnie, daughter-in-law Sandy, one brother and one sister.
