Notes

  • Obituary: Phyllis Bricker Crapo was born in the small town of Alvordton, Ohio (Williams County) on February 28, 1922, to Naomi (Swanger) and Hubert Bricker. Phyllis was their second child. She had an older brother, Max, and younger siblings: Arline; Maurice "Hal": Patricia (Bellingham); John (called "Jack"); and Rosemary (MacDonald). The family moved to Allen, Michigan, where they once owned a store. Phyllis graduated from Allen High School. She married Harold Merton Crapo on September 25, 1942. The couple settled in Jonesville, MI. They had two daughters, Sheilia ("Sherri"), married to Roger D. Denning, and Beth Ann, married to Lee Leibold. Phyllis was petite, with sparkling brown eyes, and known as a loving wife and mother. She was a fantastic cook and home maker, who occasionally held part time jobs. She had a fun sense of humor and loved music and to sing, despite not being able to carry a tune. Phyllis was diagnosed with colon cancer, in 1969. She bravely fought this disease, even undergoing experimental treatments. As a result, she was able to see her first grandchild, Douglas Denning. Phyllis died on April 10, 1971. She was forty nine years old.
