Ruth loved music and frequently sang at church for various functions. She enjoyed quilting with her neighbor ladies. She volunteered for several years at Bonanzaville. She loved to sew, knit and crochet and made many blankets, dish cloths, pot holders, mittens, scarves, baby booties and caps, sweaters and prayer shawls, almost all of which she gave away. She was a great cook and baker, especially known for her doughnuts at the café. Ruth truly loved her grandchildren who in turn loved to check out her cookie pail which was never empty hoping to find one of their many favorites. Ruth was interested in the history of Buffalo and combined her knowledge of the past with her writing ability to author numerous articles for the Buffalo Historical Express. Ruth planted a large garden and canned and froze much of the produce. Survivors also include a sister, Alice Yanish and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; two brothers, Clayton and Russell Stensgaard. Memorials can be designated to the Buffalo Historical Society and First Presbyterian Church of Buffalo.
