  • Obituary: Robert H. Kringler, 91, Buffalo, ND, died Tuesday, May 17, 2005 in Mercy Hospital, Valley City, ND. Robert Houston Kringler was born May 14, 1914 in Buffalo, ND, the son of John E. and Estella (Houston) Kringler. He grew up at Buffalo, helping his father in the lumber yard and farming. He graduated from Buffalo High School in 1932 and then attended Valley City State University for two years. Robert served in the Army from 1942 to 1946. Because he could type, he became the company clerk for the 262nd Medical Battalion and was stationed four years in the South Pacific Theatre. He married Ruth Stensgaard June 4, 1946 in Buffalo. They lived in Buffalo, where he continued to farm and work in the lumber yard. Throughout his years, he enjoyed plentiful sustenance, a healthy garden and a loving family. Robert served on the Buffalo School Board as clerk, was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge and was a member of the Buffalo American Legion. As a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Robert served as Elder, Sunday School Superintendent and belonged to Presbyterian Men. He is survived by his wife, Ruth, Buffalo; a son, John (Jan), Fargo, ND; four daughters, Roberta (Curtiss) Mundahl, Cando, ND, Jennifer (Gary) Gillis, Storden, MN, Mary (Keith) Gohdes, Mapleton, ND, Ruth E. (Mike) Fuller, Phoenix, AZ; 14 wonderful grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Visitation: Sunday from 5 to 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM in West Funeral Home Chapel, Casselton, ND and one hour before the funeral. Funeral: Monday, May 23, 2005 at 10:30 AM in First Presbyterian Church, Buffalo.
