  • Obituary: MAHON, Rita Livingstone (Langille) Age 98, Mrs. Claude (Rita) Mahon, Bible Hill, daughter of the late Alex R. and Edna Langille, formerly of Westchester Station, passed away at Cedarstone Enhanced Care in Truro on December 23, 2014. Rita was a registered nurse, graduate of Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, and a past graduate of Obstetrics of the Royal Victoria Hospital, Montreal. She worked in hospitals in Edmonton and Red Deer, Alta., and in Barrie, Ont., as well as in Truro and New Glasgow. She also worked for a short time with the Victorian Order of Nurses in Truro. She was involved in several local organizations and was a Charter and Life Member of St. David's United Church Women. Rita was predeceased by her husband, Claude, and her sister, Helen (Edward) McCarthy. She is survived by brother, Winston Langille (Joyce), Truro; daughter, Judy Campbell (Darrell), Cardinal, Ont.; son, Jim Mahon (Nola), Upper Tantallon; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral service with Rev. Donna Lawrence officiating, followed by a reception, will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, at 2 p.m., with visiting to take place prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. Donations in her memory may be made to the Victorian Order of Nurses. A heartfelt "thank you" to all the incredible staff at Chappel Court, Cedarstone, for their wonderful care and compassion for mom and also to loyal friends who kept visiting her.
