Born in Pugwash she was a daughter of the late Charlie and Ethel (Higgins) MacAulay. She is survived by her children, Harold Steele, Pugwash, Leonard Steele, Fountain Road, Ronald Steele (Jenn), New Glasgow, David (Annie) Steele, Bouctouche, N.B., Stanley Steele, Tatamagouche, Virginia Steele, Kingston, Ont., Shelly (Mike) Reese, Bass River and her "like a son" Stephen Russell, Wallace Bridge; 13 grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren; 4 step children and many step grand and step great-great grandchildren; siblings, Helen Mattinson, Carol (Evans) Gillis and Charles MacAulay, all of Pugwash; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by husbands, Harold Steele and Gary Angevine; son, Elmer Steele, daughter, Charlene Joyce Steele in infancy; grandson, David Ernest Steele also in infancy; siblings, Richard, Wendell, Roddie and Margaret MacAulay, Catherine Spicer; brother-in-law, Roy Mattinson. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday, October 14, 2024, at Mundle's Funeral Home, Pugwash, from where the funeral service will be held at 2 p.m, Tuesday, October 15. Rev. Connie McNamara officiating with burial in the Riverside Cemetery, Wallace River. Donations in memory may be made to the Riverside Cemetery.
