Notes

  • Obituary: Betty Mae (Moore) Carter - 84, Brookfield, passed away silently and peacefully at Elk Court, Brookfield, on Wednesday morning, June 14, 2017. Born in Pleasant Valley, she was the only daughter of the late Bertram & Mildred (McCulloch) Moore. Betty was married on April 26, 1952, to Raymond Carter of Brookfield; she started out very young and quickly became the glue that kept her family intact. Betty used to say she was a "jack of all trades and master of none"; her children would agree with the first part of the phrase, however, not the second part. She worked tirelessly and sacrificed much for her family, especially when it came to raising her children in Brookfield. She loved each and every animal that was brought to her door and made sure they all had a home. You would always find Betty at any social function in the community, especially for 18 seasons at the gate at the Brookfield Jr. B hockey games. Betty is survived by her children, Irene Morrisey, Riverview, New Brunswick; Leonard Carter, Brookfield; Janet (Wayne) Reade, Greenfield; Dawn (Donald) Henderson, Brookfield; brother, James Moore, Truro; sister-in-law, Deanna Moore, Springhill; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Raymond; daughter, Joy Wasson; son-in-law, Bruce Morrisey; granddaughter, Suzanne Reade; brothers, Aubrey McCulloch, Eugene and Carl Moore. Betty's family would like to thank Elk Court and Earth Angels staff, especially Paula & Linda, for their exceptional care to our mother in her final days. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Monday, June 19, 2017, in Knox United Church, 51 Highway 289, Brookfield, Reverend Larry Harrison officiating. Private interment in Brookfield Eastside Cemetery. Reception will follow in the church hall. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Betty's memory to Brookfield Jr. B Elks Hockey Club are welcomed. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall '96 Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. Private messages of condolence may be sent to the family by viewing Betty's obituary on-line and selecting "Send A Condolence" at: www.mattatallvarnerfh.com
