Married on 1950 in Pictou Co., NS Notes Obituary: Albert G. "Bert" MacLean, 87, of Waterside, NS, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2013 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born on the family farm at Caribou Island, NS, he is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Florence V. (MacLellan); sister, Norma Miller; brother, Douglas MacLean; many nieces and nephews and extended family. Bert worked as a construction contractor, fisherman and truck driver, with many trips to Boston to deliver Nova Scotia Christmas trees. Bert's songs, guitar strumming and stories will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. In his retirement, he enjoyed winters in Florida with family and friends. He was the last surviving charter member of the Pictou Lions Club. Bert was predeceased by his parents, Norman MacLean and Mary Johnson; sister, Vera Maxwell; and brothers: Curtis, Smith and Earle. Visitation will be held 2-5 p.m. Thursday, with funeral 2 p.m. Friday, both in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Interment will be at a later date in Waterside Cemetery.
